After 18 years as associate pastors with a local church in Colorado,
Mark and Lynn Roche began to feel a stirring from God in their hearts.
Their ministry had always been focused on establishing strong
families. In fact, their commitment to family is so strong that in
addition to three biological children, they adopted three more.
With a heart for the
family, they established a preschool, administrated a primary school,
conducted parenting and marriage classes, and oversaw outreach
programs in their community ministering to children and families.
However, God was leading them to go beyond the church in America and
launch a program that would minister to the impoverished, especially
those outside the walls of the church. They knew God was calling them
to the capital city of Suva in the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific.
In August of 1997, Mark and Lynn, along with their six children, moved
to Fiji, where they still reside today. A Fijian board was looking for
directors for their ministry to broken families. They spent the first
eighteen months conducting research with the locals to determine the
greatest need.
Soon after, they discovered a real need in working with single mothers
and their children. It didn't take long to formulate a plan, and that
plan is now being realized in the ministry they help direct, "Homes of
Hope."
Through the efforts of Homes of Hope, mothers and their children are
being saved from the hardship and consequences of destitute lives.
They are very fulfilled in carrying out their God-ordained plan.
